SALT LAKE CITY (KYW Newsradio) — The 2018 Transplant Games have been a success so far for Team Philly, which garnered nearly 100 medals. And more events are still to come.

Tyshon Lewis, one of three Philly medallists who are also heart recipients, received a new heart in 2016.

"I’m almost two years out," he said. "This is my first Transplant Games. [I'm> excited, I had fun, competed in four events and medalled in three of them; I'm really happy."

Lewis won golds in shot put and discus and silver with Team Philly’s basketball team. He feels inspired to compete with other organ recipients.

"You hear other people’s stories and it’s like, man — it makes you want to push to continue to do more, and you hope you inspire others as well," he said.

He’s going through the process of meeting his donor family, though he has exchanged letters with them.

"I’m just so grateful and thankful that they did make that decision. My sons have their dad as they grow. My wife, we can grow older together, more anniversaries together," he added.
