ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) - Billionaire investor Carl Icahn is selling Tropicana Atlantic City and six of its sister properties in a $1.85 billion deal, with the gaming and hotel operations going to Eldorado Resorts, and the real estate to Gaming and Leisure Properties.

Global Gaming Business Magazine publisher Roger Gros believes the sale will be good for Atlantic City.

"It's a brand new company coming into the market," he says. "They're gonna have some new ideas, and also, they're gonna be committed to the property in Atlantic City."

Gros doesn't think Tropicana's guests will see any difference in the short run.

"In the long run," he adds, "I think you're gonna see more investment in Atlantic City from the new company, and you're gonna see more impact on the players in terms of the things they can do."

The deal is expected to close later this year.
