BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A Bensalem man is facing murder charges for a hit-and-run crash that killed a 71-year-old man in Langhorne back in November.

John Bik, 53, of Woodland Drive in Bensalem is not only charged with homicide by vehicle and leaving the scene, he is also charged with third-degree murder.

The crash happened Nov. 30 around 7:30 p.m. on Lincoln Highway in front of the Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center in Langhorne. James Ogborn was hit in the left lane of westbound traffic by a Ford F-150. He died from his injuries two days later.

Bik’s attorney Lou Busico says this is a tragic accident but not a crime.

“It happened at night time, it happened in an area where you don’t expect pedestrians to be walking, so it really is a tragedy, but it’s in no way, shape, or form a crime,” he said.

According to the criminal complaint, Bik was going about 72 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone when he hit Ogborn.

The charging documents also say witnesses told police they saw that truck swerve to try to miss Ogborn, but then after it hit him, the truck kept going west before turning into the Oxford Valley Mall.

Bik turned his truck over to police on the night of the crash, and investigators were able to get speed and location from what the hard drive of what the complaint calls the truck’s “infotainment system.”
