PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — For Dr. Seuss' Grinch, stealing Christmas will have to wait while he steals the early-November box-office crown.

With the lead voice provided by Benedict Cumberbatch, "The Grinch," an animated family comedy, finished first over the weekend by earning an estimated $66 million.

That dropped last weekend's leader, "Bohemian Rhapsody," with its total of $31 million, into second place.

In third, was the debuting supernatural World War II thriller, "Overlord," with just over $10 million.

The holiday holdover, "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms," placed fourth with just under $10 million.

The new thriller in the "Dragon Tattoo" franchise, "The Girl in the Spider's Web," starring Claire Foy, rounded out the top five with $8 million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were slightly higher than those of last weekend as well as those of a year ago.
