PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This week on Flashpoint: Host and KYW Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about the economics behind hospital closures.  In 2018, 21 hospitals closed across the United States. In Philadelphia, the city is experiencing the pain of such closures via the impending shuttering of Hahnemann University Hospital on September 8. The owner's decision to close the hospital, which serves many from low income communities, sparked protest and thrust the city in the area of the healthcare debate. University of Pennsylvania professor Robert Burns, an expert on healthcare management joins Patrick Clancy of Philadelphia Works and Shanna Hobbs, a trauma nurse from Hahnemann for this important discussion.
