PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- This week on Flashpoint: Host and KYW Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about the multi-billion dollar business of stealing freedom for profit. Human trafficking is a criminal industry that impacts millions around the world. In 2017 the National Human Trafficking Hotline ranked Pennsylvania 7th for the number of human trafficking reported. Trafficking can happen in broad day light and out in the open. Besides the sex trade, labor trafficking takes place at massage parlors, landscaping services, cleaning companies and in other industries. Traffickers target the most vulnerable, so what are the red flags, and what can the community do to stop it? We walk through the flames of this discussion with Hugh Organ, Associate Executive Director of Covenant House, Pearl Kim, a former assistant district attorney for Delaware County who prosecuted Pennsylvania's first human trafficking case and Stephanie Shantz-Stiver, Human Trafficking advocate for Network of Victim Assistance, aka NOVA, of Bucks County. If you see something, say something. by calling the National Human Trafficking Hotline: 1 (888) 373-7888.
