PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This week on Flashpoint: Host and KYW Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about mass shootings. The United States has seen an uptick in the number of mass killings involving guns, and recently President Donald Trump made statements blaming hatred and mental illness. This week, the president proposed reopening mental institutions to deal with those prone to violence. Experts have clapped back arguing that pointing to mental illness distracts from the real issue, the need for gun control. Frank Farley, professor of psychological studies in education at Temple University joins Amy Federer of National Alliance for Mental Illness in Philadelphia and Christine Flowers, conservative columnist on this debate.
