PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Travel insurance company Squaremouth launched a secret contest where they gave $10,000 to the first customer who read all the way through the fine print.

All the person would have to do it read all the way to the line that told policy holders to contact them to win the grand prize.

A home economics teacher from Georgia who always taught her students to read the fine print won.

Since the contest is over, and you wouldn’t have read it anyway, we’ll just give you the highlights of what to consider when buying travel insurance.

While many policies cover you for your own sudden illness, many don’t cover you if you’re caring for someone else’s illness, or because you just have too much work.

Those coverages are generally only available on “cancel for any reason” upgraded policies.

If you don’t know what’s covered, ask if it covers illness—yours or others’; whether you’re covered if you miss your flight, and what’s excluded.  Or better yet, read the policy to know for sure.
