Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Drizzly Weather Getaway

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Grim skies and drizzly weather don't have to wipe out a summer vacation day. There are alternates at our most popular getaway spots.

I always used to say it never rains in the bars. That's until I got drenched in a Rehobeth Beach tiki bar with Tropical Storm Allison, offshore.

But bars don't work with kids. How about water parks?

In one little patch of Pocono Mountain terrain near Route 611 and I-80 there are three. All are indoors - Kalihari, Grey Wolf and Aquatopia at Camelback. Great for the young, but how about adults, like this grandpa?

"I guess I'm a kid myself. Just have a good time."

At the shore. Atlantic City, Ocean City and Wildwood offer non-stop arcades, which in my younger days were called, "Penny Arcades."

Those days are gone. But near Cape May we find my favorite rainy day stop: The Naval Air Station Museum at the county Airport. The kids can climb into the cockpit of a World War II Warbird. And Vets can explore flying machines of their own eras - props to jets to whirlybirds.
