PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This week, Philadelphia's major broadcast, print, and digital media outlets came together in an unprecedented show of unity after certain reporters, including KYW Newsradio's own Kristen Johanson, were excluded from a press conference at the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. This week's episode of KYW In Depth is the story behind that incident.

At the news conference, the DA announced new information in the case of the star high school football player who was tragically shot and killed at home. Johanson covered the hearing earlier that day, where charges against the victim's twin were dropped.

As it turned out, Johanson was not the only reporter who was in the dark about the media briefing that afternoon.

This week on KYW In Depth, host Carol MacKenzie speaks to Johanson, as well as KYW Newsradio's program director, Alex Silverman, on how the station handled the situation and the response from its fellow media outlets.

Dan Shelley, executive director of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), also weighs in on the First Amendment issues at hand.
