PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It’s a question that’s been debated for many years: Does eating breakfast help you lose weight?

The most recent studies suggest that eating breakfast does not have a great impact on weight, but skipping breakfast actually increases inflammation in the body.

Inflammation is linked to an increased risk of heart disease and other health issues. Fortunately, there is a common sense answer to this debate: A common thread for many people who do not eat breakfast on a daily basis is that they usually snack late at night.

Late-night snacking has shown to be unhealthy for a wide variety of reasons, including the fact that food choices people make in the evening are not always the best.

If you are able to skip the evening snack, it is more likely that you will be hungry at breakfast and take the time to eat and get a healthy start to the day.
