Experts say junk food could have link to food allergies

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There is no doubt that we eat way too much junk food in our country.

Our poor diet is having a devastating effect on our nation's health and we are facing and obesity epidemic.

Now there is news from the 52nd annual meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) that junk food maybe contributing to the larger numbers of food allergies that we are seeing in the past two decades.

It’s all due to something known as A.G.E. which is short for advanced glycation end products.

These A.G.E.s are proteins that become more dangerous to the body exposed to excess sugar, processed food, microwaved foods, and barbecued or roasted meats.

The authors of the study say that work is continuing, but they are confident in recommending that people start to reduce the amount of these foods that they take in.
