PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Flavonoid-rich foods have been shown to help in the battle against heart disease.

Flavonoids are more often than not being linked with a reduction in the risk of cancer.

Flavonoid compounds are typically found in plant-based foods and drinks, and are associated with fruits and vegetables that have vivid colors.

Apples, oranges, blueberries and broccoli are examples of food high in flavonoid compounds.

We are constantly talking about lifestyle changes that can make a big difference, and there is no doubt that what we eat can have an impact in our overall health.

This particular study is one that makes a great deal of sense because it's not difficult to find these foods and to increase its role in our diet.
