PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Burnout is becoming an issue in many job settings.

Let's face it, in an effort to maximize profits, many companies have downsized and are asking current employees to do the work of two or three people. Young people entering the work force don't even realize they're expected to do the work of multiple people.

Physicians certainly can't change the business world, but the hope is they can help employees deal with overwork and high stress jobs.

According to the Mayo Clinic, many workers are in an environment where there is "a state of physical emotional or mental exhaustion combined with bouts regarding competence and value of work."

Companies are now looking at options to improve relaxation. Ironically, some of the options that are being looked at are group activities and classes that are, in some cases, mandatory, often provided after hours.

Scientists say this only makes the problem worse.
