PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As we approach the new year, there is no doubt that many of us are thinking about our New Year's resolutions. 

These usually center around losing weight, increasing exercise or perhaps turning a new leaf and becoming serious at work or school.  

Perhaps the greatest New Year's resolution you can make for yourself is to decrease the amount of stress in your life. 

Studies have shown that stresses can be associated with an increased risk of everything from heart disease to cancer, and many of us fall prey to either unrealistic expectations or the pressure we put on ourselves. 

The beauty of trying to reduce stress is that it is something that all of us can achieve if we make serious attempts.
