PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There has been a dramatic rise in the use of dating apps as a way for people to meet and try to find common ground on the path to a relationship.

There is no doubt that many people are extremely happy with the experience since not that long ago online dating was considered a dramatic change from the norm.

With increased popularity come the inevitable studies analyzing pros and cons.

A report in the Journal of Eating Disorders has an interesting finding based on a survey of almost 1,800 men and women regarding eating habits.

According to the study, women who use dating apps are more likely to suffer from eating disorders. In fact, they are 26.9% more likely.

In addition, they are 14.6% more likely to take unhealthy measures to lose weight.

The hope is that this curious finding may help identify a high risk group.
