PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Everything you've ever wanted to know about cheese will be asked this weekend at a fundraiser to send two local cheesemakers to the annual American Cheese Society Conference.

Philly's first ever Cheese Quizzo takes place Sunday, June 3 at Martha in Kensington, 2113 East York Street.

"It's a chance for people who are interested in tasting local cheese, meeting other lovers (of cheese) and having a really good time and possibly winning some fabulous lactic prizes to come together for a night of cheese questions," said organizer and cheese author Tanaya Darlington, also known as Madame Fromage.

"There will be a section on cheese vocabulary," Darlington said, "there will be section on milk, there will be something on Pennsylvania cheese."

But don't fret if you're not super knowledgeable about cheese.

"We'll have a lot of true or false questions and a lot of multiple choice," Darlington explained...."(We're bringing out) all the cheese nerds -- curd nerds. If you're a curd nerd, you know!"

And Darlington points out it won't all be competition.

"We're going to break in the middle and have a mozzarella stretching demo," she said.

There's a requested donation of $10 at the door to participate. The goal is to send the owners of Collective Creamery to the American Cheese Society Conference.

"It's a huge meetup of American cheesemakers from across the country," Darlington explained.
