PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — This week on Flashpoint: Host and KYW Newsradio Community Affairs reporter Cherri Gregg asks the burning questions about the recent rash of murders of women in Philadelphia.

Beginning in 2017, where the city saw a 53 percent increase in the number of homicides with female victims, there has also been an increase in the number of domestic violence homicides. Now, groups are beginning to sound the alarm.

What is behind this violence against women?

Jeannine Lisitski, executive director of Women Against Abuse, joins Ikey Raw, an activist who has been chronicling recent deaths of women, and Carmen Pagan, a domestic abuse and homicide survivor who recently held a march in North Philadelphia, calling for attention on the plight of the women victims.

Dr. Steve Rosenberg joins Flashpoint.

The newsmaker of the week is vaping.

The Centers for Disease Control just confirmed eight deaths and more than 500 illnesses all linked to vaping, but what are the facts behind the frenzy? What do parents need to know?

Dr. Steve Rosenberg is a psychotherapist and smoking cessation expert who has helped more than 50,000 people quit smoking. He discusses the dangers of vaping and provides tools on how to quit.

It's kicking off its second annual Mighty Fest on Sept. 27, and founder Tim Whitaker discusses the effort.
