PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — One of the first major events of festival season in the city takes place Sunday in South Philadelphia.

"Flavors on the Avenue is a street festival welcoming everyone to East Passyunk Avenue," explained Pam Zenzola with the East Passyunk Avenue Business District, "showing off all of our stores and restaurants and entertainment."

It includes food from top restaurants, drinks the popular bars, live music and sidewalk sales.

"Absolutely something for everyone," she added. "It is truly a family friendly event."

This event used to take place in a parking lot under a single tent, but Zenzola said they've outgrown it.

"The neighborhood is bigger. They're clamoring for more. We need a whole street festival, and that's how it grew," she said.

New this year: No tickets are required.

"It's pay as you go," she said.
