PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A furry Philadelphia celebrity and his friends help to put some big smiles on kids' faces at an area children's hospital Wednesday.

Gritty, the Flyers mascot, and his friends went to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children to bring Halloween fun to children who weren't able to go trick-or-treating.

Madeline Reyes, 4, was dressed as Tinker Bell. Her father Luis was grateful for the visit.

"It feels good to see the support and seeing everyone come out," he said.

Jahkare Cerdan, 16, was happy to see the big guy.

"It cheered me up because I'm in the hospital. Seeing that it made me feel better."

Jason Tempesta, Flyers director of communications, said it was all about putting smiles on the kids' faces and giving back.

"We have the best fans in the world, so anytime we can give back to the community you bet we are going to do it".

This is the first time Gritty made a visit to a hospital.
