PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is fighting for his life after being shot several times in Southwest Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police say the 44-year-old was leaving a Chinese takeout restaurant when he got into an argument with another man at 54th Street and Woodland Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Chief Inspector Scott Small says the suspect then pulled a gun and fired at least five shots.

"Witnesses say the shooter then ran north on Conestoga from Woodland Avenue," Small said.

Small says the victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The search for the shooter is ongoing.
