PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is in critical condition after being shot twice while walking a dog in North Philadelphia on Monday night.

Philadelphia Police say a 54-year-old Upper Darby man, while visiting his mother, took her dog for a walk around 11 p.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small says he was approached by two men near 7th and Green streets before being shot in the neck and chest. Small says robbery may have been the motive.

"Because we did find some change on the scene, and some times that comes from the perpetrators going through the victim's pockets," Small said.

He says the dog was still on the leash and next to the victim when they arrived, and that the entire incident was caught on surveillance cameras, which police are reviewing.

Authorities are searching for two suspects in the incident.
