ABINGTON, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) —   More charges have been filed against the former Abington Senior High School Latin teacher who is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with students.

The additional charges against 55-year-old Thomas Kummer stem from other communications and additional contact he’s alleged to have had with a 17-year-old student.

Alexandria MacMaster, Montgomery County prosecutor, says the inappropriate contact between Kummer and his victim started while he was a chaperone of an overseas school trip.

"And then that continued on for months when he was back home," said MacMaster.

Investigators say they found nearly 300 messages on the student’s computer include Kummer telling her he had fallen in love, and that they need to “protect their steps”.

MacMaster says more women have come forward with allegations against Kummer.

“These other women were students at Abington High School while he was a teacher where he communicated with them in inappropriate fashion, and in some cases there was indecent contact as well.”

Those cases MacMaster says fall outside the statute of limitations, but they hope to have the women testify to show a pattern of behavior.

The school district asks anyone with information which may be relevant to the investigation to contact Abington Police at 877-APD-TIPS.
