PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A boy is dead and a woman is hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck Wednesday night while they were crossing White Horse Pike in Atlantic County.

An unlicensed driver was arrested, but the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is still asking for the public's help.

The prosecutor said a woman and two children were crossing the pike near Buffalo Avenue in Egg Harbor City around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the driver of a GMC pickup truck allegedly struck the woman and one of the children, a 7-year-old boy.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested 30-year-old Jorge Rodriguez. He was charged with being an unlicensed driver involved in a fatal motor crash.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
