PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Police are trying to figure out who pulled up next to a car at a red light in South Philadelphia and opened fire, killing one man and injuring two others.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Passyunk and Oregon Avenues.

Authorities say a Nissan was stopped at the light at Passyunk and Oregon Avenues when another car drove up and at least one person inside began firing.

Police say a 28-year-old man who was sitting in the front seat of the Nissan was shot multiple times and died. The 31-year-old male driver and a 25-year-old man in the backseat were both shot once in the shoulder. They both were taken to Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Officers were in the area for an unrelated incident. They heard the gunshots and were quick to respond, but not quick enough. The other car drove off, and investigators don't have much information on the shooter(s).

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
