PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A crash involving a speeding car left two people hurt Friday morning on Kelly Drive.

A southbound BMW M3 going very fast landed was on its roof and caught fire.

Police say at around 2 a.m. a BMW M3 was flying southward down Kelly Drive approaching Boat House Row when it took out some trees, went up a rocky hill about 30 feet or so, then landed on its roof and caught fire.

Investigators say the driver was badly hurt, and the passenger has some minor injuries.

Police say the passenger told them a woman was also in the car but there was no sign of her. Additional rescue crews arrived. They used a fire truck ladder and infrared to get a look at the top of the hill but there was no sign of another person.

Police say the passenger was drinking, but they don’t know yet if the driver was. He is in the ICU.

Kelly Drive was shut down between Sedgley and Brewery Hill Drives for several hours before police opened up the road just in time for the morning rush.
