PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Sign-ups are underway for the Delaware River Sojourn set for mid-June.

Kate Schmidt of the Delaware River Basin Commission, which puts together the event, says it's an opportunity to explore the recreational aspects along the Delaware River.

"The Delaware River Sojourn is a paddling trip down the Delaware River," Schmidt explains. "It combines guided paddling excursions with educational programming, camping and a lot of fun family-friendly atmosphere and camaraderie."

Schmidt says it's an open-ended excursion for those who want to take part.

"Participants can sign up for the entire trip which runs from June 15 to the 22," she said. "Or, you can also sign up for the days of your choice."

The trip includes kayaks, life vests and paddles, and meals.

"All skill levels are welcome so if you are an experienced paddler or more of a novice paddler our guides will get you all geared up and ready to go safely," Schmidt says.
