PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Hundreds flocked to South Philadelphia Sunday to enjoy some free family-friendly fun at the second annual Waterfront Day.

Organizer Tara Brzycki says this collaborative effort, between the Spirit of Philadelphia and the Delaware River Waterfront partners, is a great way to highlight everything the waterfront has to offer.

“We had a ton of vendors that actually participated down on Spruce Street,” she said. “We had Garces participate, which was really exciting. Franklin Fountain, which everyone always loves.”

The Spirit of Philadelphia had plenty for visitors to enjoy, starting with their lunch cruise, dockside beer garden, and then an evening dinner cruise.

Leanne Lindsay and her friends were enjoying one another's company and the complimentary cuisine on at Pop-up beer garden, on the ship’s top deck.

“We're down here having a good time, and especially the free food on the Spirit of Philadelphia,” she said.

Delilah Hightower said Waterfront Day served as a much needed girl’s night out.

“I need me time,” she said. “I'm a mom and I needed to break out.”

For all the night owls, the Spirit will have a free late night cruise from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. with food, games, and live music.

Kelly Garrett added, “We just enjoying the day, enjoying the weather, our last day to end the summer with a bang.”
