PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are pressing the search for five different drivers who killed three people and critically injured another in four hit-and-run incidents over the weekend.

Sunday was an especially deadly day as two people were hit within an hour of one another.

The first accident happened about 12:10 a.m. in the 3500 block of North Randolph Street near West Tioga Avenue in North Philadelphia, where police found a 50-year-old man dead in the street.

Police don't have a description of the car that hit him or any leads on who was driving it.

About 40 minutes later, cops were called to the 7600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, where they found 17-year-old John Gbaa. He had apparently tried to cross the boulevard and got hit by a car in the southbound lanes.

The teen was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he died of his injuries about two hours later.

In that case, police say they're looking for the driver of a dark, possibly black, 2007 or 2008 Chevy Impala or Malibu with damage to the driver's side headlight and the driver's side of the car, where the mirror had been knocked off.

Police continue pursuing leads on the two drivers who hit and killed 50-year-old Brian Jones on Friday. Jones was attempting to cross Torresdale Avenue near Cottman in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia around 8:30.

Over the weekend, police released photos of the cars that hit the man within seconds of one another.

A left-turning gray Toyota Camry driven by a woman first struck Jones. While he was down, cops say, another car, this one a dark-colored Mitsubishi Gallant, also struck him.

Both drivers got out of their cars, looked at the victim, and then drove away. Jones was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Saturday morning, at 21st and Market streets, a 59-year-old man was hit by a white sedan traveling south on 21st Street. He's in critical condition. The driver of that vehicle also left.

Accident Investigation Divison Capt. Mark Overwise said, "It's required by law that you stop, render aid and identify yourself. But secondly, as a human being, it's very troubling."

Detectives are scouring each area for any video that could lead to the identification of these drivers, but they need the public's help.

"Folks need to say something, especially if you are a passenger in one of those vehicles, you should really be motivated to get that off your chest, before the holidays come," Overwise said.

Police are asking anyone who might have a tip about any of these accidents to call 911 or the Philadelphia Police Accident Investigation Division at (215) 685-3180.
