BERLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities in South Jersey say a middle school teacher was arrested in a sting on Friday. The man thought he was talking to an underage girl online, but the "teen" he was talking to was actually an undercover cop.

For nearly two weeks this month, investigators say 38-year-old Jonathan Liano was talking to a person online who identified herself as a 14-year-old girl.

His conversations crossed the line, police say, as Liano sent sexually explicit messages and agreed to meet the girl in person.

When Liano went to Pennsauken for the meeting with the girl on Friday, he was instead met by officers and arrested.

Authorities said Liano is facing several charges, including second-degree luring.

He teaches fifth grade at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School in Berlin Township. Berlin Township Schools said the district was informed of Liano on Saturday. He was placed on administrative leave as they continue to investigate.
