PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As the Philadelphia region approaches the hottest time of the year, 7-Eleven might be able to help residents cool off. Wednesday, July 11 — that is to say, 7/11 — is 7-Eleven Day, and the convenience store chain is giving away free Slurpees  from, of course, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All anyone has to do is visit a 7-Eleven store during that eight-hour period to receive the signature frozen beverage, in any available flavor, size small.

7-Eleven, which turns 91 this year, is expecting to give away about 9 million slushy beverages by the end of the day.
