PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Moviegoers have less than a week to catch a movie at the Ritz at the Bourse in Old City. After three decades, the beloved theater is closing.

With the final credits set to roll at the Ritz this Sunday, film fans are praising the landmark theater for bringing them independent films, foreign flicks, and dramas based on real-life events.

"A Hidden Life," a drama inspired by an Austrian farmer who refused to fight for the Nazis, is one of the final films showing at the Ritz.

"Waxing nostalgic, because the Ritz at the Bourse for fans of cinema was an important safe space for us," said Philadelphia film producer Josh Goldbloom.

He adds that Philly could use more arts and entertainment venues.

"It's up to other artists, entrepreneurs to keep these cinematic churches going," he said.
