PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An advisory group formed after the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery fire will hold its first of three public meetings to discuss the refinery's future.

The first meeting takes place on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Preparatory Charter School. The following two meetings will take place on Aug. 20 and 21, at the same school and same time.

The refinery was seriously damaged in June after a series of explosions and a massive fire. The fire ultimately led the company to declare bankruptcy and furlough many of its workforce.

The City of Philadelphia recently formed the PES Refinery Advisory Group to gather information on how the closing of the refinery will affect the economy, the environment, and public health and safety.

The group will also be looking into what will happen at the industrial site, and what will happen to the thousands of workers whose jobs will be lost.

The refinery is expected to officially close on Aug. 25.
