AMBLER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A 30-year-old Montgomery County woman is facing first- and third-degree murder charges after being accused of beating and stabbing her grandmother to death in their Ambler home.

According to charging documents, Nicole Cadwalader told police she killed her grandmother, 68-year-old Sharon Burke, inside their home on the 100 block of Chestnut Street because she believed Burke was "a wretched, evil woman."

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele called it a brutal murder.

"There were a number of devices used in the murder, including knives, a baseball bat, a pan," he said.

Court documents report that after she killed her grandmother, she walked to a friend's house, then walked to the Ambler Borough Police Department.

While speaking with police, they said she became "argumentative and threatening," telling the officers she would kill them like she killed her grandmother.
