VINELAND, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities in South Jersey are investigating a deadly police-involved shooting that happened in a Vineland neighborhood Saturday.

Vineland police received a call that a man was pacing back and forth in front of a home he didn't live in on West Wood Street at around 11:30 a.m.

When the cops got there, neighbor Jose Pagan said police tried to talk to the man.

"They telling him to calm down, turn himself in, whatever. And he refused," he said to CBS 3. "He said, 'No, I'm not leaving here. You're gonna have to kill me.' "

After several minutes, police said an officer shot the man three times and killed him — which was all caught on a Facebook live video.

Pagan said the officer then yelled, "bomb, a bomb, a bomb," but the man only had a bottle of water.

Pagan added it didn't have to happen that way.

"Because he had no weapon, no shirt. He's showing the cops all he's got is a bottle of water."

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the shooting.
