CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A Chester County man is accused of snatching a 4-year-old out her bedroom in the middle of the night and sexually assaulting her.

Early Sunday, around 3:30 a.m., parents realized their daughter wasn’t in her bedroom in their Avondale Apartment. The father went outside to search.

“As he’s looking he sees about 50 yards away the defendant with his pants down and the 4-year-old girl, the father’s daughter, on the ground,” said Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan. “The father immediately goes over to confront the defendant, who flees. The father picks up his daughter and realizes her underwear is off and on the ground.”

Hogan said the father tried to catch the man, but he ran off.

The girl told her father that "a monster came and knocked on the door and took her away," Hogan said.

“This is every parent’s nightmare,” he said.

Police found Humberto Guzman-Garcia hiding nearby. The suspect is charged with kidnapping, aggravated indecent assault, attempted rape, and related charges. He remains in Chester County Prison.

According to charging documents, police say Guzman-Garcia confessed to molesting the girl. They also say he confirms he does not know the victim or her parents.

Given the nature of the attack, Hogan is concerned that there could have been prior victims. Anyone with information about the suspect are encouraged to call police at 610-268-2022.
