PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The presidential campaign for Joe Biden announced Thursday morning that its national headquarters will be in Philadelphia, reportedly in Center City.

The announcement comes a few days before a kickoff rally for the former vice president scheduled to take place Saturday in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Campaign manager Greg Scultz in a statement said, "We're proud to anchor our campaign in the birthplace of American democracy. Its storied history and celebrated diversity will serve as an inspiration for Team Biden, and is the ideal setting to continue our fight for the soul of this nation."

The campaign also touted Joe and Jill Biden's connection to Pennsylvania. The former VP, and U.S senator out of Delaware was born in Scranton. His wife, Dr. Jill Biden, grew up in Willow Grove.

Pennsylvania is a key swing state that helped deliver the White House to Donald Trump in 2016.

And it was a close one. The president beat challenger Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania by a little more than 44,000 votes.
