PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A grisly discovery Wednesday night in Pennypack Park in Northeast Philadelphia has resulted in a homicide investigation.

Police were called to the park around 6:30 p.m. about a possible body in the woods near the event stage.

Officers with the help of a police dog searched for nearly two hours before they found the decomposed remains of a white male not far from the park's Welsh Road/Roland Avenue entrance.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death while the homicide unit investigates.
