BUCKS COUNTY (KYW Newsradio) -- The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens opens its doors later this month.

Peppermint Farm on Hilltown Road in Perkasie, Bucks County is the 44th designer home spruced up by the Village Improvement Association.

Joy Levy says work started last summer for the event that begins April 28, but this year there was a huge snag.

“This year was a particular challenge,” she said. “We had found a fantastic property and somewhere in December. We ended up having a bit of an issue with the homeowner and a difference of opinion about what was involved in doing a designer house. That contract fell through and we ended up having to find a second house at the very last minute.”

What's involved is letting professionals dig up and replant your gardens, paint, remodel, redecorate your home and then let up to $10,000 people wander around for a month.

Levy says the event raises about 300,000 dollars a year for Doylestown Hospital and several other causes.
