PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — More drug charges have been filed against a Bucks County man already serving time in state prison for running a heroin ring in Quakertown.

The Bucks County District Attorney's office says 28-year-old Sheamus McCarthy sent letters to his brother and his girlfriend in January, asking them to send him drugs that he could turn for a profit behind bars.

McCarthy asked the girlfriend to smuggle Suboxone, which is used to treat opioid addiction, inside her body, and gave her detailed instructions on how to do that.

He asked his brother to hide synthetic marijuana inside the binding of a book.

McCarthy is charged with soliciting other people to send him contraband while in jail, and other crimes. He'll be arraigned next week. He is already serving 9 to 20.5 years in state prison for heroin trafficking.
