Camden woman sentenced to 6 years for stabbing twin sister to death
CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A Camden woman who confessed to stabbing her twin sister to death will spend six years in prison for manslaughter.
Amanda Ramirez, 27, admitted to killing her sister, Anna, during a drunken argument in June in Centennial Village. Yet to this day, she said she cannot remember what the fight was about.
Family members pleaded for mercy. Judge Edward McBride agreed that Ramirez was not likely to offend again, but there were conflicting stories initially about what happened.
“Amanda had acknowledged she’s serving effectively a life sentence for what she already did,” defense attorney Jordan Zeitz said. “This sentence was really paling in comparison to what she’s already been serving and what she’s going to continue to serve for the rest of her life.”
There are no plans to appeal the sentence, which is on the low end of the scale for second-degree manslaughter.
Given time served, Ramirez could be released in about 4 ½ years.
