HARRISBURG, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) -- Yet more drama for a delayed South Philadelphia casino project.

Cordish Companies has announced an agreement to buy out an affiliate of Parx Casino, which has been its partner in the South Philadelphia casino project.

In its press release, Stadium Casino Baltimore Investors LLC, an affiliate of Cordish, characterized the Philly Live! Hotel and Casino project as being “shovel ready” and said the company is “excited to now immediately get to work” on construction.

The company did, however, ask the Gaming Control Board in September for a three year extension of its deadline to open.

The gaming board staff is recommending a two-year extension be granted.
