PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Famous 4th Street Cookie Company kicked off National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day a day early by delivering trays of free chocolate chip cookies to the Ronald McDonald House in West Philadelphia.

August 4 is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, and Hudson Meyer, a guest at the Ronald McDonald House in West Philadelphia, loves chocolate chip cookies. She wasted no time getting the biggest cookie.

"It's as big as a giant," Meyer said.

Thomas Servello with the Ronald McDonald House says the kids loved every second.

"This morning, the kids had a blast, delicious cookies, I mean, you should have seen the smiles on the kids faces," Servello said. "They were so happy."

And Evan, a self-proclaimed chocolate chip cookie expert said...

"Really good," he said, "just because it had a lot of chocolate chips."

Servello says special attention like this helps ease a bit of the stress that families at the house are experiencing.

"It's not easy for families that come to our house," he said. "They are going through a difficult situation. So anything that brightens their day, we truly appreciate it."

Free cookies also were delivered to the Ronald McDonald House living rooms on the Cardiac and Oncology floors of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher's Hospital.
