Cats, yoga and beer: 'Cinco de Meow' event puts 'fun' in fundraiser

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- A Delaware County animal shelter has come up with a fun way to introduce the public to cats that are up for adoption, as well as a fundraiser for its life saving mission. 

It's called Cinco de Meow, a play on Cinco de Mayo. The event is actually on May 4 at the Providence Animal Shelter in Media, where things get started with a hour yoga session with cats looking for a fur ever homes roaming about.

"You'll literally be doing yoga poses and having cats crawling all over you, and if you are a cat person that's probably considered heaven for you," said Justina Calgiano with Providence Animal Shelter. "After the event you'll enjoy some 2SP beer, as well as some traditional guacamole and chips."

The event runs from 2-4 p.m. Tickets are $35. Space is limited.

"We have a limited number of tickets available, so I would encourage people to sign up quickly," Calgiano said,. "We know that we will probably sell out close to the day of."
