NORTH PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The People for People Charter School at Broad and Brown streets near Fairmount Avenue will remain closed until Jan. 22 due to fire damage.

A fire broke out late Tuesday night and damaged the building, forcing cancellation of Wednesday's classes.

School officials say the building has water, smoke and fire damage, and restoration crews will be working over the next few days to clean up and get it ready to re-open next week.

Fire officials are trying to figure out what caused the fire.

The K-12 school has an enrollment of 540 students.
