PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - For the second straight Memorial Day Weekend, both hoagie and music lovers were in for a treat at Penn's Landing Saturday.

HoagieNation returned to the festival Pier with two music stages and seven groups performing live, headlined by Philadelphia's own Hall & Oates.

"It's his favorite group so I surprised him with tickets," said Kelly Branton who was there with her husband, Keith.

"It's great, hometown, good local music," he added.

Hall & Oates and Train brought John Evans and his wife out. But all the groups impressed him.

"It's been great, the first couple bands, the locals, have been pretty good," he said. "Walking around, the free hoagies, it's a good time."

Yes unlimited hoagie samples from nearly 20 local shops were offered during the Hoagie Happy Hour.

"We are serving up 'The Junkyard' which is turkey,  prosciutto, sautéed spinach, roasted red peppers, mozzarella and sharp provolone with a garlic spread," said Nancy Daniger, part owner of Sonny's Italian Deli in Limerick, Pa.

Chris Foresta, whose family owns Foresta’s Market in Phoenixville, Pa., was dishing out the "Smoked Stack."

"It's got smoked Gouda, smoked bacon, smoked turkey, smoked tavern ham, chipotle mayo on a roll and then we top it off with some crunchy fried onions," he explained.

Other hoagies available were named after Hall & Oates, like the "You Make My Dreams," "I Can Go For That" and the "Maneater" for example.
