PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said criminal charges are "highly likely" in the case of a South Philadelphia hit-and-run that left an 11-year-old boy dead.

It happened around 3 p.m. Friday along the 1000 block of Shunk Street.

Authorities say 11-year-old Julian Angelucci was crossing the street on his bike when he was struck.

Officals said the driver fled the scene following the crash.

The boy was rushed to Jefferson Medical Center and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities say the unidentified driver, a 48-year-old woman, did call 911, and eventually turned herself in to police. She was questioned and later released.

The death of the fourth-grader, who lived on South Eighth Street, has shook up parents in the neighborhood. They're pleading for motorists to slow down.
