PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — St. Thomas the Apostle School in Glenn Mills will be closed Friday so officials can clean and disinfect the building after several dozen students and staff members had to stay home sick.

The decision comes after 70 students were out sick Tuesday, and almost 60 were out last Friday.

About a quarter of the staff members at the school were also out sick.

School officials hope the cleaning effort and extended weekend will give students and staff time to get healthy, and say they decided to wait till Friday so parents had time to make childcare arrangements.
