PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) --  Dozens of men and women came together Friday to celebrate a special cancer free milestone in Juniata Park.

The former patients of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia were all smiles at the Celebrate Life event.

Among them was Christine Bray, from Washington D.C., who says she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2010 and has since been in remission.

"I actually remember Celebrate Life in 2014, “she said. “I was up in the chemo chair and someone came by and handed me a pin. I've held on to that pin because it really meant so much to me. Having someone, even with a situation really as hopeless as mine, to tell me that there was still hope, that really meant a whole lot to me."

Dr. Steven Standiford, surgical oncologist and Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at CTCA, says his staff looks forward to the annual celebration.

"We get to see the fruits of what we do,” he said. “We remember the heartaches and we get a chance to celebrate the wins."
