PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A GoFundMe campaign to find Dr. Tom Short, who has been missing since before Thanksgiving, has been trending online.

The West Chester University statistics professor went missing on Nov. 21 after he never showed up to his family's Thanksgiving dinner in Beachwood, Ohio.

Short's sister, Amy Beltano, who launched the fundraiser, said his car was discovered parked in a hotel parking lot in Orange Village, Ohio — about 20 miles east of Cleveland — with his belongings and cellphone inside.

However, he never checked into the hotel, and surveillance footage shows he actually arrived in Beachwood on Nov. 18. After that, his family and police say there was no other trace of him.

The GoFundMe campaign aims to use the money to hire a private investigator to find Short. Any remaining dollars will be donated to a missing persons fund.

The fundraiser has already reached $24,000 of a $25,000 goal.
